I've lived in Quebec City for many years and have just recently stopped using the French language after one too many insults and "speak English" responses from Francophones. If they are not going to give you service in French, why even ask? On top of that, there is Bill 101 which they completely ignore in refusing us service in French. They get agressive if you refuse to speak to them in English because they want to practice their English and that is that. I don't know where the problem is where Francophones refuse to speak to us in French and then bitch and pass lois against us because they say we don't speak French even though we might have once.
